Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is escalated from a very rare and narrowly defined condition to a very well-spoken, researched and advocated condition in the past 50 years. ASD is a complex neurodevelopmental condition which is marked as the “cornerstone” in pediatric neurosciences and rehabilitation. SRM Institute of science and technology (formerly known as SRM University) is one of the top-ranking universities in India with about 50,000 students and more than 2600 faculty across all the campus, offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in Engineering, Management, Medicine and Health Sciences, and Science and Humanities. 80% of students are from outside Tamil Nadu, with students from Europe, China, and other countries.
SRM College of Occupational Therapy was started in the year 1996 under the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. In the year 2004, the college was brought under the ambit of SRM University and the postgraduate program was started. SRM College is the only occupational therapy college to offer BOT, MOT and Ph.D. programs in Tamil Nadu.
