Chennai city witnessed heavy rains during November 2021.  As per the records, low pressures over Bay of Bengal, southeast Bay of Bengal and south Andaman Sea caused the heavy rains over Chennai during November 2021. The location SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST) situated in the outskirts of Chennai also experienced heavy rainfall during this period. SRM IST has weather monitoring station and through which the daily weather data is captured. SRM IST has experienced 1337mm of rainfall during November 2021. The rainfall received during this period is higher than the rainfall received during Nov 2015 (1105mm).  The rainfall is almost 300% above the mean rainfall value (336mm) for the last 10 years during the November 2021.
