As a part of Xion 2021, ‘Robot 101’ a robotics workshop was conducted on 22ndMarch 2021. The welcome address was given by Dr. A. Shirly Edward, HOD of ECE department. It was a 7 hours workshop which imparted hands-on training on robot design software. The workshop was handled by Mr. Abishek R and Mr. Harshith P of the 3rd year ECE department. About 140 participants registered for the event across India. The workshop had 3 major sessions, first was Introduction to Robotics, Arduino, sensors, and basics coding in Arduino. From the basics of Arduino, its pin diagram to the most used functions in code were taught in this session. The next second session was building an IR-controlled Car using an Arduino in the TinkerCad platform. The participants were encouraged to open TinkerCad and do the steps simultaneously. The aim of creating this project was to introduce the participants to working of IR sensors and use a remote to control a car. Participants were given an hour break after building the first project. The last session was to build an obstacle-avoiding robot. Ultrasonic sensors were introduced to the participants while building this project. All participants were very enthusiastic throughout the session. The faculty coordinator Dr. Anita Christaline. J delivered the thanking address. E-certificates were provided to the participants.
