SRMIST Signs MoU with CORE Diagnostics to Advance Genetic Diagnostics and Research

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) hosted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with CORE Diagnostics on Feb 21, 2026, marking a significant step toward strengthening academic–industry collaboration in the fields of genetic counseling, cancer diagnostics, and translational research.

The ceremony was attended by distinguished dignitaries including Mr. Dinesh Chauhan, CEO, CORE Diagnostics; Mr. Sagar Mohanty, Associate Vice President, CORE Diagnostics; Dr. M. Leenus J. Martin, Dean, College of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST; Dr. S. Ponnuswamy, Registrar, SRMIST; Dr. M. Parani, Professor and Chairperson, School of Bioengineering, SRMIST; and Dr. S. Kiran Kumar, Head, Department of Genetic Engineering, SRMIST, along with faculty members, researchers, and students.

In his address, Mr. Dinesh Chauhan highlighted CORE Diagnostics’ global presence, with operations across 11 countries and throughout India. He spoke about the organization’s expertise in cancer diagnostics, noting that the company manages nearly 1,000 oncology cases daily using advanced next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies. He emphasized the growing importance of genetics and genetic counseling in modern healthcare and stressed the need for increased cancer awareness, particularly regular cervical cancer screening for early detection and prevention.

Mr. Chauhan also reaffirmed CORE Diagnostics’ commitment to supporting SRMIST students through academic engagement initiatives, including expert-led teaching sessions, internship opportunities, placements, and collaborative research projects. He noted that the partnership could further expand into joint academic programs, specialized training modules, and knowledge-sharing platforms that bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice.

Registrar Dr. S. Ponnuswamy provided an overview of SRMIST’s diverse and specialized academic programs, highlighting the institution’s focus on interdisciplinary education and research excellence. Dr. M. Parani emphasized the increasing relevance of genetic counseling education in addressing contemporary healthcare challenges and preparing students for emerging roles in precision medicine.

This collaboration reflects SRMIST’s continued commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships with leading industry organizations. The MoU with CORE Diagnostics is expected to enhance student learning through industry exposure, strengthen research capabilities, and contribute to advancements in genetic diagnostics, counseling, and precision healthcare.
