Rakul Preet Singh sizzles at SRM’s cultural fest Milan

It was all glitz, glamour, music, and colourful lighting at the inauguration of the 13th edition of Milan. The showstopper of the cultural extravagant of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur was actress Rakul Preet Singh. The Spyder actress took the stage by storm and was welcomed with a big reception by some 4000 odd students. 

“This cultural festival is great but it is equally important for you to complete your studies,” she said to the enthusiastic crowd.  

She also urged them to complete their studies before they can pursue their passion. “I am extremely happy to be here. All these things remind me of my college days. Follow your heart and do the best.”

In his special address, SRMIST’s Pro Chancellor (Administration), Mr. Ravi Pachamoothoo said, “Learn as much as possible in this institute, only then you can be achievers.” He also urged students to not neglect their studies on the path of pursuing their passion. “SRM will support students in all ways.”

Addressing students, Vice-Chancellor of SRMIST, Dr. Sandeep Sancheti said, “Milan is an event for you and by you. This is a place to meet, greet, and showcase ones talent. This is also a place for learning as it is not necessarily done in classrooms. Develop lots of skills and most importantly be aware of things happening around you.”

Students performed several dances in folk, western, hip-hop, Bhangra among others.

This edition of Milan - #LiveTheChange will host several celebrities such as actress Nivetha Thomas; standup comedians Abish Mathew, Sapan Verma; DJs Lost Stories; rapper Divine and YouTube sensation Vidya Vox. The theme for this year’s event is ‘A trail of dreams’ and students have designed 75+ programs/competitions, wherein nearly 50 colleges and universities are expected to participate. 

This national-level college fest will be held for a period of four days and will be filled with music, dance, movies & dramatics, fashion, literary, gaming club, creative arts, quiz, food among others. 

About 80,000+ people are expected to attend this four day cultural and sports fest that will see students of several colleges participate in it.  The closing ceremony on 8th March will be graced by actress Nivetha Thomas.  

This fest will provide students a great opportunity to showcase their talent and get rewarded for the same. With a plethora of domains and an even larger platter of events overall, Milan promises loads of fun for all kinds of individuals. Whether you wish to give an ode to the classic events such as dance, drama, fashion, music and literary or celebrate divergent thinking through Rubix, creative arts and gaming. Milan always was and is the place to be. Milan is organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs in association with students. The previous editions saw celebrities such as John Abraham, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Asha Bhosle, Vishal and Shekhar, Amit Trivedi, Nucleya, Vikram, Surya, Vijay Deverakonda and many more be part of this legacy.
