Dr. S. Shanmugan received his B.Sc., and M.Sc., degrees from Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore (Bharathiyar University). He completed his M.Phil., in Inorganic Chemistry from University of Madras, Guindy campus, Chennai. He has graduated his Ph.D in Materials and Organometallic chemistry under the supervision of Dr. R. Murugavel in 2009 from Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay, Mumbai, India. Subsequently he held postdoctoral positions at foreign universities like ÉcolePolytechnique, France with Dr. Nicolas Mézailles and Catholic University, Leuven, Belgium with Prof. Paolo P. Pescarmona. His research interests mainly focus on Inorganic-Organic hybrid framework materials, Nitrogen fixation by metal complexes, Polyoxometalate catalyst and Organotin phosphate clusters. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor in Research Institute & Department of Chemistry at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University), Kattankulathur, Tamilnadu.
