Research Day 2018

01 March 2018 saw SRMIST celebrate its research day to immortalize the spirit of research and innovation. The fact that SRMIST takes its research day very seriously is evident in the inauguration of the latest new research building with the latest equipment to facilitate unbridled research and open up to a better tomorrow. Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao delivered a very inspiring chief guest address. Dr. V. Sathyanarayanan’s speech was a beacon of hope and encouragement to all the upcoming researchers. Dr. T. R. Paarivendar spoke about how the spirit of innovation resides within the heart of the youth, children who live in the present always have a way to question the right things in life.

This enables them to arrive at the right solutions faster than the others. Research day this time showed the new addition of over 797 research papers open for presentation. The chief guest Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao said that educational institutes will always be very happy to provide needful research environment in the curriculum and support more research-based interactions and also stated that he is glad to be in this occasion of SRMIST opening a research center for students to excel. The event concluded with the grand inauguration of the New Research Building at SRMIST, Kattankulathur for the best future of research scholars by the Chancellor along with the President Dr. Sandeep Sancheti.


Research Day 2017

Research day this year was celebrated on February 28 at Dr. T.P. Ganesan Auditorium in the Kattankulathur Campus of SRMIST. The guests of honour this year included Shri.P.Kunhikrishnan, Director, Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh; Professor. N.Balakrishnan, Honorary Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Supercomputer Education and Reserach Centre, IISc, Bangalore; Professor. V.Chandrasekhar, Director - National Institute of Science Education and Research - NISER, Bhubaneshwar

In their speeches, Mr. Kunhikrishnan expressed his pride at the work SRM and its students have contributed to research to such an extent that it had observed “Research day” as a day of significance. He commended the work of SRMSAT and called it a flying floating orbital success. “Investing in research does not bring immediate returns, but when they do, the effect is as thunderous as it is tardy” were the words of Professor N. Balakrishnan. Investment in research is not Philanthropy were the words of Professor V. Chandrasekhar. Our Chancellor Dr. T. R. Paarivendar stressed upon the importance of research and how it has continually enabled mankind up the path of progress


Research Day 2016

SRMIST celebrated its research day on 29th February at Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium. The guest of honour for this moment was Prof. P. Rama Rao, a Padma Vibhushan awardee and the Chairman of the Governing Council of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. His commendation of SRM for its commitment towards research in the form of its labs and the research day itself was extraordinary. He had stated that the main reason the USA is at its peak today is because of the amount of research facilities they have at their disposal. He also said that research did not stem from investment and backing but by the collective brilliance of a few minds. He had also highlighted the significance of observing such a day at SRMIST and thanked SRMIST for its long standing commitment to creating a better tomorrow


Research Day 2015

Research day at SRMIST was held at the Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium on 27th February. The chief guest, Dr. T. K. Chandrasekar, Secretary, Science, and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, commended the efforts of SRMIST in celebration of the unique “Research day”. In his speech at the event DR. T. Chandrashekhar, insisted that research and development efforts over the last two decades are paying dividends, especially in the realm of the health sector in India. Research and development activities may not yield results the next day but over a period of time it offers hope which in turn augments the quality of the future
