Conclave on Cloud Computing and E-mobility
Organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Vadapalani Campus.
IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) inspires, informs and influence the global engineering community to engineer a better world. IET shares knowledge that helps make better sense of the world in order to solve the challenges that matter. Department of CSE in association with IET - CLN conducted a "Conclave on Cloud Computing and E-mobility" on 21st Feb 2020, at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Vadapalani.
The conclave was inaugurated by Mr. Madhavan Seshadri, Senior Vice President, Virtusa, Chennai in the presence of Dr. Madhan Kumar Srinivasan, Vice President & Lead - Cloud Analytics, Accenture Innovation Center for Analytics, Accenture, Bengaluru, and Mr. Shankar Akella, General Manager, EV &e-Mobility Solutions, Ashok Leyland Limited, Chennai. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr.Prasanna Devi – HOD CSE. She enlightened the participants about the need for this conclave as to get an exposure of the two leading technologies: E-Mobility and Cloud computing.
The guests were felicitated by Dr.Duraivelu, Dean E&T, Dr. S. Prasanna Devi and Dr.Arun Nehru (IET-faculty coordinator).
Dr.K.Duraivelu, Dean E&T delivered a presidential speech and stressed on crude oil over-consumption and deliberate need to use e-Vehicles.
Mr. Madhavan Seshadri Senior Vice President, Virtusa, Chennai started his talk giving insights on the aim of the start-up conclave being generation of business strategies in Cloud computing and E-mobility. He stressed on the importance of breaking technologies and new business strategies for intensive marketing and increased sales. He also quoted a pleasant statistic on the booming business opportunities, estimated to triple to 148 trillion business opportunities signifying on what’s awaiting in future.
It was followed by Dr. Madhan Kumar Srinivasan, Associate Vice President & Lead - Cloud Analytics, Accenture Innovation Center for Analytics, Accenture, Bengaluru who initially elaborated on strategy, consulting, digital technology and operations in his firm. He moved on explaining the cloud computing technologies into use and spoke about the growth of AWS,Google cloud, Azure and Digital Ocean. He also shared his experience of architecting cloud infrastructures in firms like DBS,Citibank,etc. He further added on the challenges faced by a cloud architect when it comes to security and privacy.
Mr. Shankar Akella, General Manager, EV & E-Mobility Solutions, Ashok Leyland Limited, Chennai gave a speech on E-mobility services and E-vehicles. He focused on the changes, developments and challenges to be faced in engineering the E-Vehicles. He also shared his experiences in Ashok Leyland and many other organizations.
Post-lunch was a Panel discussion on cloud computing in various sectors like schools, colleges and hospitals. The panel discussion were :
- Mr. Suman Babu Yerlagadda, (Representing schools sector), Director, Chennai Public Schools, Chennai.
- Dr. Malini Pandey, (Representing Higher Education Sector), Joint Registrar, MGR Educational and Research Institute University, Chennai.
- Dr. C. Venugopal (Moderator), MD & CEO, Krysalis Consultancy Services, Chennai.
- Mr. S. Bhargava (Representing Financial and healthcare sector), GM – Costing, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai .Discussion paved a clear view on cloud computing and its various implementations in various sectors.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr.Arun Nehru – IET Coordinator SRMIST , Vadapalani campus.
