Prof. Mohana Krishnan R, Director, Directorate of Sports, SRMIST, received the Certificate of Honour for Excellence in Sports Leadership & Governance Award conferred by the Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI), recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The award was presented by Shri Kamal Haasan, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, and Thiru Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Minister for School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, during the 2025 Award for Excellence in Sports.

The award ceremony was held on 23rd December 2025 at Tiruchirappalli as part of the Award for Excellence in Sports 2025 celebrations. The award recognises Prof. Mohana Krishnan’s outstanding leadership and sustained contribution to the development of sports and physical education at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, where he has played a pivotal role in strengthening sports governance, athlete development, and institutional excellence in sports administration. His efforts have significantly enhanced SRMIST’s reputation as a leading institution for integrated academic and sports excellence.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. D. Prasanna Balaji, Secretary, PEFI – Tamil Nadu State Chapter, and Rtn. AKS Er Muruganandam M (MMM), President, PEFI – Tamil Nadu State Chapter.

This national-level recognition reflects SRMIST’s strong commitment to excellence in sports leadership and governance through the institution’s well-structured Directorate of Sports, which has consistently promoted high standards in athlete development, infrastructure planning, and institutional sports administration.
