FDP on Smart Materials For medical Technology
About the FDP
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, since its inception has been organising various technical events every year to impart knowledge to the students and teaching fraternity about the emerging technologies in health care. This year, the department has planned to organize a faculty development programme in virtual mode with a notion to provide an insight into smart materials. Smart materials offer a major role in the field of biomaterials covering various sensing and actuation applications in healthcare due to their responsivity to external stimuli such as stress, light, temperature, moisture or pH, and electric or magnetic fields. Smart materials are also suitable for harvesting biomechanical energies from human motions, environment or body heat, or shaping of biofuel powered devices. This will open up the horizon for nanoenergy, nanosystems that can themselves act as self-powered sensors or be utilized as power sources for other integrated transducers.
International Workshop on Numerical and Analytical Techniques in Engineering Problems (IWNATEP - 2022)
Start: 19-01-2022 End: 21-01-2022
The Department of Mathematics, College of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST hosted an international workshop on numerical and analytical techniques in engineering problems from January 19 to 21, 2022. The workshop brought in 7 experts from IITs and 5 experts from international academia to share their knowledge about real-world applications in these fields, with the goal of enriching both the participants who were already working in this field and those who were just starting out. The workshop was held online using the Zoom platform. Day one, two, and three each included five, four, and three sessions. Each presentation was followed by an interactive discussion with the audience. Every talk had an average of more than 220 people in attendance.
The workshop was hosted by Dr. B. Vennila, Dr. Harekrushna Behera, and Dr. E. Suresh, and the gathering was welcomed by B. Vennila, Associate Professor & Head In-Charge, who briefed on the importance of such events and appreciated the interest that the research scholars showed as the number of registered participants reached 916, from India and abroad. Following that, Dr. A. Anuradha introduced the Department of Mathematics at SRM IST, highlighting the courses offered by the department as well as the goals and achievements of their students and alumni to date. This was followed by individual talks by the invited professors and experts, with the goal of stimulating and encouraging researchers in these fields. Each speaker was introduced by the session's senior faculty chair. The third day's sessions were followed by a valedictory function in which Dr. Harekrushna Behera expressed gratitude to the experts, participants, and organisers.
