Milan - Get Pirated' 12

The much awaited four day cultural event Milan started on January 27, 2012. Celebrated for the fifth time at the varsity, Milan needs no introduction. Milan, 2012 was based on the theme 'Get Pirated'. The inaugural ceremony of Milan'12 held at Dr. T. P Ganesan auditorium, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University), Kattankulathur. The respected dignitaries on the dais and the august gathering welcomed the chief guests of the day, film actor and popular heartthrob, 'Siddharth', the Supreme Star 'R. SarathKumar' and the director of the film 'Kadhalil Sodhapuvadu Yeppadi', Mr. Balaji Mohan.

Amidst fanfare and fun, Siddharth and Balaji walked onto the stage elegantly waving their hands and the crowd cheered with sheer enthusiasm on their arrival. Aleena Thomas, Convener, Milan, welcomed the guests and highlighted that Milan comprises over 56 events and 16 workshops and around 60 colleges are participating in the same.

Siddharth drew loud cheers and the audience thoroughly enjoyed his presence. Film actor Siddharth said, "Hey SRM! This is one unbelievable auditorium. I'm nostalgic about my college days now. I thank you all for having me here. I'm extremely happy. I wish I could be here for all the four days". He urged the youth to be happy for being a part of this generation and urged them to follow their dreams and he stated that the dreams always come true.

Siddharth introduced Balaji Mohan, debutant director of the movie 'Kadhalil Sodhapuvadu Yeppadi. Siddharth stated that Mr. Balaji Mohan was discovered with a short film on YouTube and this has opened up new doors for aspiring directors. 'Despite the huge numbers, it is an energetic and well-disciplined crowd', said Balaji Mohan.

Balaji Mohan also advised the youth to follow their dreams. "Do what you love and love what you do and you will succeed. Just believe in yourself," he added. Supreme star Sarathkumar's' arrival turned the audience yet again crazy and students were standing and clicking pictures, waiting for a glimpse of their star. "I am flabbergasted and thrilled to be here. I thank you all for your love," said R.Sarathkumar.

R. Sarathkumar started his interaction quoting Martin Luther King Jr; "if you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, keep moving forward."

After the interaction session with Siddharth, Sarathkumar and Balaji; recognition prizes were felicitated to students for their hard work and contribution towards making Milan a success. The event concluded with host performances of dance, music and fashion show that enthralled the audience.
