SRM Hospital releases ‘Valli’ Health Card for the community

SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRM MCH&RC), Kattangulathur released the Valli Health Card and the 7th edition of Healthcare CSR Bulletin – “Valli”.

These were released by SRM MCH&RC’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Lt. Col A. Ravikumar. This initiative was undertaken by Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation as part of its CSR activity.

About 15 people from Amphenol Omniconnect India Pvt. Ltd and 10 SRMIST’s housekeeping staffs were among the first to receive this Valli Health Card. Card Holders would get a 20 percent discount on OP investigations at SRM MCH&RC, apart from the regular concessions that are in place.

Present on the occasion was retired Sub-Inspector S Murugan, SRM MCH&RC’s Medical Superintendent Dr. K. Thangaraj, Dean (Dental) Dr. Vivek, Dean (Occupational Therapy) Dr. Ganapathy Sankar, SRMIST’s Sports Advisor Mr. Nandhagopal, representatives from Amphenol Omniconnect India Pvt. Ltd and members of SRM Institute of Science and Technology.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lt. Col A. Ravikumar said, “This is good hope in these tiring times. This initiative from Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation will help those unable or not able to afford the proper medical attention the right to good health care.”

He appreciated those who were involved in this initiative and encouraged them to keep up the good work and retain the quality of service provided.

Medical Superintendent Dr. K. Thangaraj, said, “SRM MCH&RC has been provided the best treatment at the most affordable rate. This health care will even ease the burden on those who are unable to get quality health care.” D. V. Venkatagiri, Secretary of Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation said the Health Card will be distributed to the community through the medical camps organized by the Foundation.

73rd Republic Day celebration at SRMIST was a patriotic affair

The 73rd Republic Day celebration at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur was held in a grand manners. Vice Chancellor of SRMIST Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan hoisted the National Flag and delivered the Republic Day address.

In his address, Dr. Muthamizhchelvan said, that UNESCO has come out with 17 SDGs, of which two goals - Good Health and Wellbeing & Clean water and sanitation are very important.

He added that SRMIST under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is supporting the WASH and related SDG initiative not only in the campus but also in the adopted villages under the Swachh Bharat Mission even during the critical phase of pandemic.

He also elaborated as to how SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre contributed to COVID -19 vaccine trails and provided health support to the community with a proper biomedical waste management system in place.

SRMIST has also been instrumental in conducting extensive research on Wastewater-Based-Epidemiology (WBE) surveillance as a promising approach for early warning system in Chennai.

SRMIST Registrar Dr. S. Ponnusamy delivered the special address. The vote of thanks was proposed by Director (Sports), R. Mohana Krishnan. The event concluded with students performed cultural events.

 

Two books released by Chengalpattu District Deputy Director of Medical Services at SRM

SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Kattangulathur hosted the release of two publications – a Braille book in Tamil on COVID Awareness and a Healthcare CSR Bulletin – “Valli”.

The two publication was released by Chengalpattu District Deputy Director of Medical Services, Dr. Baranidharan. In his speech, he said initiatives like this are very timely and useful. He urged hospitals and colleges in the private sector to work closely with the Government to tackle the present pandemic crisis.

The Tamil Braille Book on COVID Awareness initiative was spearheaded by Dean (Dental) of SRM Kattangulathur Dental College Hospital, Dr. Vivek.

Vice Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan lauded the “Valli”, healthcare bulletin initiative and said the Braille Book  on COVIC should be brought in different languages and appealed to all organisations to explore giving appropriate job opportunities for visually impaired persons, in a proactive manner.

Dr. Lt.Col Ravikumar , Pro-Vice Chancellor of SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre emphasised the importance of connecting people in social welfare projects.

D. V. Venkatagiri, Secretary of Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation appealed to the corporate sector in the Chengalpattu District to come together to work on CSR projects with the Foundation. 

This was organised by Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation, National Association for the Blind and SRM Kattangulathur Dental College.

Several UG and PG programs are available for students in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences that have the College of Pharmacy, College of Physiotherapy, College of Occupational Therapy, College of Nursing, School of Public Health, and allied courses at SRM MCH&RC.

The soft launch of application forms for Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences was held at the Institute’s premises in the presence of SRMIST’s Pro VC (Medical) Lt. Col. Dr. A. Ravi Kumar, Director (Communications) Mr. R. Nandakummar, Dean (Medical) Dr. A. Sundaram, Dean (Dental) Dr. N. Vivek among others.

SRM MCH&RC has over 66 disciplines that prepare students to fill that growing need and take advantage of that growing opportunity. Admissions to any of these programs will be based on the national-level entrance examination – SRMJEEH (UG) and SRMJEEN (UG), Board examination marks, Department level examination conducted by the respective schools in SRM, and one-to-one interaction. SRM Institute of Science and Technology is organizing South Zone Inter University Tennis Women Tournament 2021 - 2022 from 05th to 08th January 2022, Under the Auspices of Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Dr.Lt Col A. Ravikumar, Pro Vice Chancellor(Medical), SRM IST will Preside over the function and Prof. Dr. E. Poovammal, Associate Director (CL Hostel), SRM IST Guest of Honor the South Zone Inter University Tennis Women Tournament on 05th January 2022, at 9:30 am in the Kattankulathur campus. About 40 Universities are participating in the above tournament. First Four positions are Qualified for the National Inter University Tennis Women Tournament 2021-2022 which is to be held at DCRM, Sonipat, Haryana. In the month of February 2022.

ARIIA 2021 RANKINGS: SRM SECURES FOURTH POSITION (PRIVATE OR SELF-FINANCED UNIVERSITIES CATEGORY)

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur(formerly known as SRM University) has been ranked within first four places in India in the last three years.

The 2021 ranking was announced virtually by Dr.Subhas Sarkar, Honorable Minister of State, Ministry of Education and SRMIST has secured fourth place in the Private or Self-Financed universities category. A total of 1438 institutions (compared to 674 last year) took part in the rankings and SRMIST managed to finish within top four ranks. ARIIA is an initiative of the Ministry of HRD, implemented by AICTE and Ministry’s Innovation Cell, Government of India to systematically rank higher education institutions and universities in India on indicators related to Innovation, Startup and Entrepreneurship Development amongst students and faculty. SRMIST’s earlier ARIIA rankings were second in 2020 and third in 2019.

The major parameters on which ARIIA is based are Programs and Activities on innovation & start-up in the campus, Pre-incubation and incubation infrastructures & facilities, Academic courses offered by the institute on innovation, IPR and start-up, Successful innovation and start-ups emerged, Investment, collaboration and partnerships with ecosystem enablers, Research outputs; publications and intellectual properties generated, and Technology transfer and commercialization efforts

SRMIST is one of the top-ranking universities in India with over 52,000 students and more than 3200 faculty across all the campuses. It offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Engineering, Management, Medicine and Health Sciences, Hotel Management, Science and Humanities, Agricultural Sciences and a School of Law.

Apart from much recent ARIIA ranking, SRMIST is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A++" the highest grade and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has placed it under the category "I" and also under section 12 (b) which entitles government funding for research. Placing SRMIST in the top league among QS ranked institutions in India, QS has awarded a 5-star rating, in the second cycle in 2021, ,  under  Teaching, Employability, Online Learning, Innovation,  and Social Responsibility with an overall rating of 4-star. Further, at the Kattankulathur campus, Five engineering programs have been accredited by ABET, USA (www.abet.org), and another four Engineering programs by IET, UK in addition to accreditation by NBA ( National Board of Accreditation) for five Tier I  UG programs,   It has more than 1000 international students from 64 countries studying in various programs.

SRMIST is spread over three campuses in and around Chennai (Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani) and one in NCR, Delhi (Modinagar) and one in Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu.
