The Institution of electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India's leading recognized technical professional society. Established in 1953 by a small group of pioneering practitioners, telecommunication engineers and related disciplines. The IETE members are the key scientific and technical professionals engaged in all aspects of the development of high-tech areas of Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science and Information Technology. Govt. of India has recognized IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an Educational Institution of National Eminence.
The IETE Students Forum has the following broad objectives :
Plan and organize technical programmes and activities, such as, special lectures, workshops, seminars, symposia, exhibitions etc for the benefit of student members on a regular basis.
To provide a common platform for the student members to exchange ideas and information on the topics of their interest e.g. curriculum, employment / higher educational opportunities, emerging trends, new development etc;
To facilitate technical visits / practical training / project work / employment, of the student members in R&D laboratories, industries, academic institutions etc;
To encourage team work and the spirit of self-reliance among the student members;
To serve as a focal point at the institutions on all aspects of professional development of the student members.
To meet these objectives, the IETE students' forum arranges frequent meetings of student members together with experts / academic / R&D Industry leaders as well as IETE centre's executive committee members.
We were born on one fine sunny morning of September 19th ,2008. IETE Students Forum Inaugural Function was organised in the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University), Delhi-NCR Campus. Col.Ishwar Singh Jaiswal, Chairperson, IETE Meerut Center presided over the function. The function was marked by lectures and encouraging words of the chief guest along with Dr. Ranjana Dubey, HOD,Mr Pankaj Singh HOD-ECE. The technical heads of the IETE Core Committee gave a presentation about IETE. Mr.S.Rajkumar, IETE coordinator ended the function on high notes with the vote of thanks. SRM-IETE Students Forum is one of the best acclaimed students societies in our university. Since its existence, ISF has organized a robotics workshop (which drew around 200 students.) The first task for SRM IETEans was to hold a Robotics workshop in the college campus. And, guess what! It was a grand success. Here's a quick look.
An intra-college technical quiz is being organised by the IETE Student’s Forum on the 5th of March, 2009, around 400 students participated in Prelims Round. Engenious-Technical quiz and many other activities which received heavy participation from the students as well as faculties.
At the moment ,ISF has got brisk backing of around 300 students. True to our statement, the National Level Mega Techno-Cultural Fest, Cynosure’09, in collaboration with IETE was organized on 9th and 10th October 09.A total of around 50 events well spanned around 2 days with the crowd of 5000. We have invitied around 250 universities and over 500 colleges to be a part of this fest. IETE being the principal backbone of this magnum event. Rs.2 lakhs has been sanctioned by our university and other financial requirements fulfilled by support partners like Incredible India, Indian Oil, NTPC, Reliance, Java Green, Meow FM etc. We are also organized “KALAKRITI--- A painting competition for the underprivileged” during the fest.
