About the department

With the spread of immunosuppressant drugs and HIV/AIDS, potential doctors need to know how to tackle TB, and be aware of worldwide efforts to control this bacterium. At SRM, students are under the guidance of highly qualified and experienced faculty members.


M.B.B.S. students are taught various aspects of clinical presentations, diagnostic tools, X ray diagnosis of management of Tuberculosis with special reference to Revised National TB control program. The teaching method involves both theory and study through observation of clinical diagnosis.

Community outreach

The students are involved in various camps that are conducted in schools and rural areas as part of the community medicine services. The department also issues free ATT drugs and vitamin tablets for needy community members.
