The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology organized a CDE Programme for Undergraduates, Postgraduates, budding young dental graduates and Dental teachers on 29th October. The inauguration was held at Hall 1 & 2 of T.P Ganesan Auditorium in the presence of Honourable Registrar, SRM University, Director of SRM University, Dental Dean, Associate Dean and Head of the Department. The programme was held on the theme of oral medicine- “The academic Bridge between Dentistry and Medicine.” The Programme reinforced the in-depth knowledge required to diagnose systemic diseases from the oral cavity and vice versa.
This programme had a participation of 400 delegates of 17 different colleges from all over the city. The programme had eminent Senior speakers. Other principals and Head of the department of prestigious institutions participating and motivating students.
Most renowned Veteran speaker Dr.Gnanasundaram, former Principal and Professor, Tamilnadu Government Dental College spoke on “Oral cavity in systemic diseases” and
“Tooth for Truth”.It was an eye opener in forensic Odontology for the new era of dentistry.
Dr.S.Sathasivasubramanian, professor& HOD of Oral medicine and radiology, Sri Ramachandra University Presented on”Systemic diseases due to Oral Foci of infection.”
Dr.Ravidavid Austin, Dean, Professor HOD of Raja Muthiah Dental college, Annamalai University, presented on the topic of “Radiology to imageology in Maxillofacial diseases.”
Dr.S.C. Selvamuthukumar, Professor, HOD of Thaimoogambigai Dental College presented on the topic of “Stress in Oral Maxillofacial Diseases.” These acted as a bridge between the medicine and dentistry, enlightening the students about the importance of oral manifestations of systemic diseases and oral diseases aggravating systemic disease.
Besides the lecturer programmes, undergraduates and postgraduates participated in e-posters and Quiz programmes. Winners were awarded certificates and cash prizes.
The programme was much appreciated and applauded for its usefulness by one and all.
