Keeping in mind the absolute essential of ethics and ethical journalism in the print and broadcast outlets, the Department of Journalism and Mass communication shapes students with the zest to be journalists of tomorrow.
Exposure to print, visual, PR and New Media is given importance under the guidance of highly qualified and experienced faculty. Regular lectures by experts in the industry combined with regular seminars and workshops along with periodic visits to various media houses make it obvious why SRM is the one place all future journalists head to.
What Do We Offer
The Department offers a three-year bachelor degree programme, a two-year master’s programme and a Ph.D. programme embodying the theory of original research. The minimum mark for admission to any course is 60 percent in the qualifying examination. Students are given a blend of theory and practice with on training in media skills to give them an international perspective and exposure to newer and higher learning standards. The Department provides a curriculum which includes a strong knowledge in the fundamentals of English, History, Economics, Constitution, Cultures, Civilizations and Environment.
