Research Summary

  • Dr.T.Vijayakumar worked in the Department of Physics, Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum since November 2002 at various research positions in ISRO sponsored RESPOND project in collaboration with Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Trivandrum and Laboratory for Electro Optics Systems (LEOS), ISRO, Peenya, Bangalore. The first phase of the project activity entitled “Development and characterization of Organic and Polymeric Nonlinear Optical materials relevant to Space Technology” was successfully completed on 31-05-2006.
  • He also worked in the second phase of the project activity entitled “Design and fabrication of Polymeric electro-optic modulator for space technology applications” with Prof.V.S. Jayakumar, Mar Ivanios College (Ph.D Supervisor and Principal Investigator), Shri.M. Viswanathan, LEOS and Dr.C.P.Reghunadhan Nair and Dr.Dona Mathew from, VSSC as focal points of the project. 
  • Presently, he is the principal investigator of the project “Synthesis and Characterization of Microwave Materials based on Li2O-MgO-SiO2 doped with Zn, Ti, W for Space Applications” sanctioned by Department of Space, Government of India with Dr.H.Sreemoolanathan, VSSC as focal point.
  • He has also been sanctioned the SRM Selective Excellence project on “Synthesis and Characterization of Organic NLO Chromophores for Prospective Applications” in May 2016.
  • An initiative on “Indigenous design and development of compact remote multi-sensing instrument for planetary surface characterizations” is being carried out in collaboration with Prof.Shiv K Sharma, University of Hawaii, USA, Dr.M.Nurul Abedin, NASA Langley Research Centre, Prof.Dr.Fernando Rull, University of Valladolid, Spain (PI, EXOMARS, ESA) and Prof. Dr. Juergen Popp, Institute of Photonic Technology, Jena, Germany (ESA).
