World Chefs Day “How Healthy Food Works!”

World Chefs Day is commemorated every year with full fervor and ardor with any prominent international chef and for the year 2019 it happened as a two days event with the magnetic presence of vibrant chefs from across the nation and the chief guest is the Spanish chef Antonio, the Executive Sous Chef of The Diplomatic Club Qatar and the whole event revolved around the theme of the year “How Healthy Food Works!”

The World Chef’s Day conference began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, by all the elite dignitaries namely Dr. T.P. Ganesan the pro vice chancellor (Planning and Development), SRM IST,  Dr. Ramasamy, the Director of Faculty, chef Seetaram Prasad the corporate executive chef of GRT Hotels, the The president of SICA chef Damodharan, Dr.chef. Soundararajan, the general secretary of  IFCA, Chef Ramu Butler, the vice president of Kerala, Chef  Kasi Viswanathan, the vice president of Karnataka along with the director of SRM IHM lighted the lamp. Dr. Buvaneshwari Shankar, the senior clinical dietician of Apollo Hospitals also joined along with them.

Ms. Shalini the second year student danced to a bharathanatiyam dance followed by a presentation delivered by Dr. Buvaneshwari Shankar on the topic “How Healthy Food Works” brought the importance of being healthy and the wrong practices that we have been adapted too which motivated everyone to a higher level of consciousness.

Dr. D. Antony Ashok Kumar, the director of SRM IHM welcomed everyone all those who have gathered from far and near and delivered his chefs day address.

All the esteemed guests and the dignitaries were felicitated by the Director of IHM and Dr. T.P.Ganesan, the pro vice chancellor of SRM IST.

Panel discussion on “Consider Food as Medicine rather Medicine as Food” was a very informative discussion that was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

A pledge on transforming India by 2022 into a healthy nation was taken by all everyone as Dr. Chef Soundararajan, the general Secretary of IFCA recited the pledge.

Chef Himanashu Sahoo, the Director of Bakthi Culinary Institute gave a very vibrant speech and made the students very active and won their hearts in a fabulous way.

Chef Ramu Butler, the vice president of Kerala region presented the important attributes that a chef should follow and practice in order to be successful.

Chef  Uma Shankar Dhanapal, delivered his address focusing on a very important issue of the ways and possibilities to increase the retention of  students of hotel management in the industry.

Dr. Madu Karteesh, the Siddha physician delivered a very eye opening talk about astro food, the food which remains suitable to different Zodiac signs.

Chef Jugesh Arora, the Honorary president of SICA, the man behind the planning from the dot to the progression of the complete events was felicitated by Dr. D. Antony Ashok Kumar, the director of SRM IHM.

More than 10 school students participated in the conference along with the different hotel management colleges like IHM Chennai, SPARK Catering College Tirupathur, ASAN Memorial Institute of Hotel Management, JENNEYS Academy of Hotel Management College, Bhakthi Institute of Culinary Arts, Chennai for the conference and also for the various inter college competitions conducted at our Institute.
