The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), SRMIST organized a workshop on POSH Law during 5th and 6th Dec 2019. The workshop was conducted by Mrs. Deepa Rafeeque and Mr. Muhammed Rafeeque of M/S. Legal, Banglore. The workshop took place in Dr. Venkatraman Ramakrishnan Hall, 15th Floor University Building, SRMIST, Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu, 603203.
On both the days, the sessions started at 9.30 AM and concluded at 4.30 PM with an hour lunch break. During the workshop the following topics were introduced, discussed and related case studies were analyzed extensively. The topics were: About Law - Birth of new law - Fundamental rights - Sexual Harassment types - Features of POSH law- Regulations (UGC, AICTE) - Prevention, Redressal mechanism- Gender sensitization.
On day-1, that is, on 5th Dec, both the forenoon and afternoon sessions were attended by the Deans and Directors of SRMIST. Both Mrs. Deepa Rafeeque and Mr. Muhammed Rafeeque of M/S. Vlegal, met the Vice Chancellor Dr. Sandeep Sancheti in his office and had a short discussion. The workshop was inaugurated by the Registrar Prof. V. Sethuraman. Also, he attended the session with the Deans and Directors. The welcome address was offered by the ICC-presiding officer Prof. E. Poovammal. Both the trainers were introduced by Mrs. M. Vishnupriya, ICC Member. At the end of that day workshop thank note was offered by Prof. C. Saravanan, ICC- member.
On day-2, Dec 6th, the workshop was attended by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) members and Professor & Head of various departments of SRMIST. The august gathering was welcomed by Prof. S. Chitra, ICC Member. Both the trainers were introduced by Mrs. P. Magila, ICC member. One of the ICC member, Mrs. Raghavi Senthilkumar, Director-Headway Foundation, Chennai, who is the nominated external member attended the sessions and she was introduced to all the department Heads. Also, special instructions were given to ICC members through the activity 'Role Play'. At the end of the second day, a thank note was given by Mr. K. C. Ravishankar, ICC- member.
On both the days of workshop participants were enthusiastic & interactive and gave very good feedback about the sessions.
