Inter College Competition

With the completion of 25 years of SRM IHM this academic year 2018-19, is a yearlong celebration with lots of competitions, celebrations, workshops, presentations, and guest lectures.

In accordance with that Inter College Competitions was conducted with the students of other colleges from IHM Chennai and also Indus Institute of Culinary Management participated in the competition and the shared their experience with our students.

Mystery basket was conducted and many teams participated enthusiastically. Professionalism was carried out at different levels by the students in cooking and also in presenting the cooked food. A three-course menu a starter, a main course and a dessert was prepared for two portions by the students and was served in a very appetizing way. Mr. Kannan, the SICA consultant was the jury member who judged all the displayed foods.

A mocktail has to be prepared within 10 minutes of time and a table layout has to be given for a five-course menu and for three-course wine pairing has to be done in which also the students participated and demonstrated their best. Mr. Balaji Karunanithy, Bar Manager of Hilton, was the jury for all the Food & Beverage competitions.

In creative housekeeping students vibrantly took part in three different competitions Towel Art, Flower Arrangement, Innovative Bed Making and performed fabulously. Mr. Umapathy Ganapathy, The Executive House Keeper of Hilton, was the jury for all the housekeeping activities.

From the department of the front office, “Best Manager” competition was conducted where there were 10 students who participated from our college and they had different rounds to prove their versatility and their shrewdness like aptitude tests, general discussion, extempore, and rapid-fire rounds. They performed really well with full zeal and positive enthusiasm to bring out their managerial qualities within them.  All the participants were given the participation certificate and the winners will be awarded on 22nd August during the Brainiacs of Kitchen.
