About the Course

The one-week training programme is designed to develop skills in the design of Case-control and cohort research studies Following topics will be covered.

  • Design and Logic of case control studies  and Cohort studies
  • Incidence measures and measures of Risk
  • Study base principles and principles in the selection of control
  • Odds Ratio (OR), Equivalence of OR and Relative Risk
  • Biases & Confounding- criteria for confounder
  • Types of case control studies: Nested case control, Case-cohort, density case controls
  • Critical review of  Case control studies papers.

    About the Faculty

    Dr. Rajan R Patil is a Sr Epidemiologist, with over 15 years of academic experience in Epidemiology and Public Health. He is specialized in Epidemiology from CMC Vellore and has a Ph.D. in Public Health. He has been a consultant epidemiologist to UNDP and WHO Disease surveillance programme. He has been instrumental in designing and developing  Epidemiology course curriculum for graduate and postgraduate/ masters programme at the university level.
