First national level conference on Quest for Advancements in Civil Engineering –QACE12 held on 15th March 2012. This conference QACE’12 serves to capture innovations arising from practical experiences, research and academic programs. It allows a bi-directional flow of information from “experts” to laymen, and vice versa, and provides an opportunity for the dissemination of findings.
The Convener of the conference, Dr.T.Ch.Madhavi, stated that there is an overwhelming response from across India. Participants from various parts of the country like Andaman and Nicobar, Gujarat, Mumbai, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra and all over Tamilnadu took part in the conference. 103 papers were selected and were presented in parallel sessions during the course of the day.
Dr. Arunachalam, Advisor and Chief scientist, SERC, CSIR is the chief guest and presented the key note address. Registrar Dr. N.SethuRaman, The Dean, Dr. K. Abdul Ghani and Vice Principal Dr. Antony Michael Raj felicitated the gathering.
THEME OF THE CONFERENCE
The conference covered themes related to concrete and steel structures, construction project management, recycle and reuse of construction wastes, applications of remote sensing, environmental issues, developments in transportation engineering etc.
High level research papers were presented by researchers and scientists and academicians from Port Blair, NPCIL (Bombay), SERC Chennai, LD College of Engineering, Ahemadabad, M.J. College of Engineering and Technology Hyderabad, GITAM University Hyderabad, Walchand College of Engineering Sangali, Mar Athanasius College of Engineering Kerala, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, Anna University and many other self-financing colleges from all over Tamilnadu.
