Dr. N. Damodharan, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutics had taken initiatives to bring Pharmaceutical industrial experts to deliberate and share his knowledge with the student fraternity, recently had organized a Continuing Pharmacy Education program on ‘New Drug Delivery System’ by Dr. Raja Mohammed, Research Scientist, Orchid Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Irunkkatukottai, Chennai on October 23, 2013.
The main focus of the lecture was to emphasis on importance of newer drug delivery systems for the existing drug molecules, industrial research, different approaches, their applications and global market value. The resource person identified that the major industrial research globally is in developing differentiated devices such as modified and auto injectors. The lecture was an eye opener for the students, especially final year B.Pharmacy students who engage in doing project works, so that they can relate them to their academics.
The research scientist, Dr. Raja Mohammed, is an expert in the field of Nanomedicine and its Development. He pointed out the ways by which institutional research works should be commercialized through proper mechanisms and is the need of the hour. He added that such developments and patents are shall brighten the future of Pharmaceutical Industries in India. He also stressed the students to come forward to bridge the gap between the industry and institutions.
