SRMIST Celebrates the Spirit of Youth and Creativity with Milan 2026

MILAN’26 – National Level Cultural Festival

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, inaugurated the 18th edition of Milan, its flagship national-level cultural festival, on February 19, 2026, marking yet another milestone in the university’s vibrant student life and cultural legacy. As SRMIST commemorates 40 years of academic excellence, Milan 2026 reinforces the institution’s commitment to holistic education by providing students with a powerful platform to explore creativity, collaboration, and leadership beyond the classroom.

Conceptualized around the theme “Live the Change: Indian Maximalism,” this year’s festival has drawn participation from over 60,000 students representing 350 colleges across 28 states and more than 60 countries. The scale and diversity of participation reflect Milan’s evolution into a truly global student-driven cultural phenomenon, celebrating artistic expression and cultural exchange.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by noted actress Sreeleela, who appreciated the energy, inclusivity, and professionalism demonstrated by the student organizers. She highlighted SRMIST’s diverse academic environment and commended the institution for nurturing platforms such as Milan that empower students to express themselves and showcase their talents on national and international stages.

The occasion was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Mrs. Padma Priya Ravi; Mrs. Manimangai Sathyanarayanan; Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST; Dr. S. Ponnusamy, Registrar, SRMIST; and Dr. Nisha Ashokan, Director of the Directorate of Student Affairs, along with student leaders representing various academic faculties of the university.

Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor of SRM Group, emphasized that Milan reflects SRM’s vision of nurturing well-rounded individuals. He noted that events of this scale help students develop confidence, leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills, preparing them to excel in diverse professional and social environments.

Milan 2026 continues to stand as a testament to student leadership, with the entire festival being conceptualized and executed by students under the guidance of the Directorate of Student Affairs. Their dedication and collaborative spirit have transformed the campus into a vibrant hub of artistic and cultural engagement.

The opening evening featured a spectacular musical performance by acclaimed composer and performer Mithoon, whose soulful compositions created an immersive and unforgettable experience for the audience. The festival featured performances by renowned composer Santhosh Narayanan and will feature indie performers Office Gaana and DJ Viola, offering a diverse lineup that celebrates contemporary and independent music culture.

The festival will conclude with a valedictory ceremony featuring actress Anishma Anilkumar, where winners of various competitions will be recognized, marking the culmination of four days of creativity, talent, and celebration.
